We booked our hotel in the La candelaria area. As I reached my hotel, I realized it was just passable. It was one of the low costs I could get since my budget per day was $10 per person. I had to stay here for 4 days and I thought I could manage the day outside and come only at night for sleep. But God had different plans. My wife got her back ache again, so we slept the entire day. We went out just to have lunch and then buy a SIM card.
For the SIM card, we went to the Claro store in La Candelaria. I got 32 GB for 44,000 COP. That is the minimum I could get.
On our way, we tried a couple of snack items. We went to a vegetarian place called “Zukini” since most of the options had meat.

We were thinking whether to cut short our trip or to continue after a month. While we contemplated, we had to take one more visa. I took only Colombia and Chile visas in India and the rest I thought I will figure it out on the roads depending on how my trip goes. My plan is to spend 12 days in Colombia, spending time equally between Bogota, Medellin and Cartagena. From Medellin, I am flying into Santiago. After Chile, I decided that I will go to Bolivia
I did not know this is the easiest visa that I could get in a short span of time. On Day 2 morning, I filled out the Bolivian visa application form. Took me an hour to fill it out and they asked for the following proofs
The form was straight forward. They do not have any photo specifications as long as it is clear. I reused the same one from my Colombian visa and uploaded it. I downloaded the application form, went to a nearby Impression (xerox center), took a print out of the filled application form and my supporting proof documents.
I googled the Bolivian Embassy, It was near Usaquen. I booked Uber and reached there by 1pm. As soon as I reached, I saw “Solo Cita” hanging on the front door meaning “appointment only” and I was disappointed. But when we knocked on the door, a person attended. He asked us to come at 2pm. He took the application form from us though without telling us anything
We had an hour to spare. We walked around for 5 mins and entered a mall nearby to have lunch.
For lunch, we had a salad bowl and rice. It was a buffet system, we could grab anything we wanted and we had to pay by weight. As usual, since it was inside the mall, it was expensive. We paid around 30000 COP / 650 INR.
We went back at 2pm. He told us the consul was yet to arrive and asked us to wait. In 15 mins, he arrived. We could hear our names, and the person who attended came and told me to pay the visa fees in a nearby bank. It was 30 USD per person. Bank was 300 meters/5 mins walk. I went there, paid the fee, took the receipt and came back to the embassy and handed him over. In the next 10 minutes, they stamped our passports with the visa. It was a 30 days single entry visa.
It was one of the easiest and fastest visas. They did not ask for any additional documents, except for the duly filled and signed application form.
After getting the visa, we went back to the mall, spent some time and took an uber back to the hotel around 6pm. We went to a nearby pizza place as we longed for something crunchy and spicy. But what we got was this, again a little bland :( - With that we wrapped our day 2
